Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?

Coaching is really about having an intentional conversation that helps an individual to understand how to get closer to their goal. Coaching is non-directive, meaning that the coach does not set the agenda. It’s all about you. Your life. Your goals. Life coaching draws on the coaching approach to deal with any goal in your life (work, relationships, money etc) that you would like to make happen?

Why do people come to coaching?

People want life coaching often because they’re feeling stuck. They want to achieve a goal but something is holding them back and they would value clarity on how to move forward.

So what kind of things can you coach on?

Anything! People come to coaching saying things like:

  • I want to change my job but don’t know how.
  • I’m feeling stuck in my relationship and want some clarity.
  • My finances are a mess and I don’t know where to start!
  • I’m really stressed out at the moment and I need some balance in my life.
Ok, it sounds like most people could benefit.

Absolutely! The key thing is that you want something to change and you need a helping hand to move forward.

So is it like therapy?

Coaching aims to help you achieve your goals. We do this by looking forward and helping you find your own solution. Coaches are not generally therapists and we don’t dig into the past to try to fix things. That kind of stuff is best left to the counselling experts!
