5 tips for keeping your 2022 New Year resolutions.

New Year New You?

We love making resolutions. Whether it’s losing weight, changing jobs, starting a new hobby. The New Year is prime time for making new goals.

I wonder how you find keeping resolutions? If you’re finding it’s hard to stick to them after a few weeks, you’re definitely not alone! One study found that less than 1 in 2 people were successful in their resolution after six months.

Another research study reported that being flexible with your goal can really help with your wellbeing. Although flexibility did not contribute to being successful at achieving a goal, it massively helps with promoting psychological wellbeing. In other words, being able to adjust and adapt your goal to what life throws at you, helps contribute to better mental health.

What can you do to increase your chance of success? Here are my five top tips for keeping to your 2022 New Year Resolutions:

  1. Be Flexible – think about how your goal can change to whatever life throws at you over time – this has been shown to improve mental wellbeing.
  2. Plan Ahead – anticipate barriers to achieving your goal. If you know you have two weddings coming up, is now the best time to lose weight?
  3. Know Your Why – be clear why you’re trying to achieve your goal. Hold on to this motivation and this can sustain you through the tougher moments.
  4. Make Milestones – break your goal down into achievable objectives and be clear on the significant moments along the way to achieving your goal.
  5. Celebrate Small Wins – celebrate achieving all your milestones along the way.

Is your life balanced?

Needing some balance?
